The University of Glasgow today welcomed the new Secretary of State for International Development, Priti Patel MP, to its MRC Centre for Virus Research (CVR).
The University of Glasgow today welcomed the new Secretary of State for International Development, Priti Patel MP, to its MRC Centre for Virus Research (CVR).
Ms Patel was accompanied by staff from the Department of International Development (DFID), including Professor Charlotte Watts, Chief Scientific Adviser. Ms Patel is the first senior cabinet member to visit Scotland since PM Theresa May's visit last month.
Ms Patel met privately with senior University staff to discuss the impact of Brexit on scientific research funding and collaborations. She was then shown around the Zika laboratories and the mosquito research lab to understand more about the Zika research being done at the CVR.
