The ScottishPower Foundation, in partnership with its Spanish equivalent Fundacion IBERDROLA, has today announced 17 new post-graduate scholarship grants in the UK for the 2015/16 academic year, partnering again with the University of Glasgow.

The scholarships aim to contribute to the education of young professionals with the capabilities required to lead the energy industry into the future. Applications for the forthcoming academic year open on Monday 2 February and close on Thursday 26 March.

Grants are available to those who wish to study towards qualifications in energy and environment related studies at the University of Glasgow. The highly respected degree covers areas such as renewable energies, sustainable energy systems, environment and biodiversity, clean coal technologies, emissions management, energy efficiency, energy storage, electric vehicles and smart grids. The grants cover full enrolment costs and provide an additional living allowance of £1,200 per month.

Over the past five years the ScottishPower Foundation has supported over 60 students through their post-graduate studies, giving them the opportunity to build a career in the energy industry.

“Today’s announcement further demonstrates our long term investment in skills and education and encourages emerging talent at the highest level.”

This call is part of the Fundación IBERDROLA’S overall investment of £1.5m in research and education programmes in the UK and Spain with scholarships seeking to promote excellence in education in the area of energy.

We are delighted to continue working with the five universities across the UK and look forward to receiving the students’ applications.”
