A major conference organised by the Centre for Robert Burns Studies at the University of Glasgow will take place on Saturday 14 January. The event, which is being held in collaboration with the Distributed National Burns Collection, will focus on the theme of “Artefacts” in the poet’s life.
Dr Kirsteen McCue, co-director of the Centre for Robert Burns Studies said, “There is a wide variety of fascinating talks that will provide a real insight into many aspects of Burns’ life, illustrated through the objects he used, came across or prized. These include a session on his farming background, his links to Scottish Freemasonry and what promises to be a fascinating look at the art of the period in which Burns lived. All of the talks will throw new light on the world that our national bard experienced.”
