Companies in the West of Scotland and beyond are being encouraged to take advantage of the knowledge and expertise of academics in order to boost business.

The University is inviting firms to an Industry Day event on Tuesday 23 February where they can speak directly to a range of academics and scientists about how they can work together.

More than 180 people are expected to attend the event in the Randolph Hall which will showcase a number of themes, including: aerospace defence and autonomous systems, biomedical engineering, energy, mobile systems engineering, nanotechnology, space systems and photonics, amongst others.

The informal, lively and interactive event will allow companies to explore how the University can help them, including how to access funding for using staff and facilities and obtaining rights to intellectual property developed at Glasgow.

The afternoon event will begin with an address by Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal & Vice-Chancellor of the University, followed by presentations by Prof Steve Beaumont, Vice-Principal, Research & Enterprise, and Dr Neil Francis of Scottish Enterprise.

A number of companies are already working closely with the University to tackle challenges within industry, such as developing new technologies and incorporating them into their production processes.

Lynne Brown, Business Development Manager in the Research & Enterprise Office at the University said: “The University is home to a great deal of research and knowledge that businesses can tap into and we are eager to form partnerships with organisations to help them succeed.

“It is one of the ways in which the University can really make a difference to the economic prosperity of the city and the country.”
