The University of Glasgow School of Law has won the bid to host the International Client Counselling Competition (ICCC) 2013, in the year of the School’s Tercentenary. The University secured the host position after bidding against four other countries: Ireland, Canada, Puerto Rico and Nigeria.

The ICCC is an annual competition for the winners of national competitions, and provides an opportunity for law students to learn and practise interviewing and counselling skills. The 2013 competition will see law students, academics and institutional representatives from across the globe gather at the University of Glasgow for the final.

The bid took place during the ICCC 2010, in Hong Kong, where Julia Brown and Lewis Richardson, two graduates of the School of Law, were competing in the final round. Mike Graham, from MacRoberts Solicitors, made the presentation on behalf of the University of Glasgow to a panel composed of the 22 national representatives at the Annual General Meeting of the ICCC.

Eileen Paterson, the Depute Director of the Diploma in Legal Practice, worked with Mike and Jennifer Lovatt and Michael Murray, from the School of Law, on the presentation and pitch. Eileen said: “We are delighted that the University of Glasgow and the city of Glasgow will be in the international spotlight in such an important anniversary in the School of Law’s long and distinguished history.”
