Principal appointed to board of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau

Professor Anton Muscatelli has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has announced the appointment of Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal of the University of Glasgow to its Board of Directors effective from 3 December 2009.
Professor Muscatelli is a graduate of the University of Glasgow and took up his post as Principal on 1 October 2009.
He is also currently a special adviser on monetary policy to the House of Commons Treasury Select Committee. He has served on the Panel of Economic Advisors of the Secretary of State for Scotland (1998-2000), and has previously acted as consultant to the European Commission, the World Bank, and RETI (a consortium of European regional governments), and the National Australia Bank/Clydesdale Bank.
Commenting on the appointment, Councillor Steven Purcell, Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “Professor Muscatelli will not only bring an incredible wealth of international expertise in economics and great intellectual rigour to the Board of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau but will also give us real insight into how GCMB can best engage with our universities at a strategic level to maximise joint opportunities.”
Professor Muscatelli added: “Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has made great advances in placing the city at the top table of global conference and tourist locations and Glasgow’s world–class universities have a key role to play in building on these achievements.”
