The University of Glasgow Business School has won a coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its success in attracting growing numbers of international students to study on the School’s MSc Management programme.

The Business School – which offers a range of high quality masters degree programmes aimed at recent graduates and aspiring managers worldwide – won the Award for growing its overseas student income by 261% over three years.

With a marketing strategy based on the development of programme partnerships with leading universities in China, India and Latin America, supported by academic staff exchanges with these partner institutions, the Business School attracts high quality students from key developing economies. Studying alongside students from Europe, Africa and North America, participants in the Schools programmes benefit from a genuinely international experience.

Professor Angus Laing, Head of the Business School said: "With the quality of our research and teaching across the School we are working to extend our brand beyond the United Kingdom and become a leading player in the international business school market.”

“This award recognises the achievement of the School and the excellence of our programmes. The forging close research partnerships alongside these collaborative teaching programmes ensure that our students have the opportunity to develop a genuinely global perspective on business."

Deputy Director of MSc Management programme, AC Muir, who led the application process for the award, said: “The Queen’s Award is Government recognition of the quality of our MSc Programme and underlines the hard work put in by the Director of MSc Management Dr Geoff Southern and the rest of the MSc team to build an internationally attractive programme. We are using the experience as a springboard for continuous improvement and further success.”

The Queen’s Award follows last year’s international accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) which saw the University of Glasgow Business School join the ranks of the world’s elite business schools.
