SCENE wins New Build Award

The University has received further recognition for the building excellence of its Scottish Centre for Ecology and the Natural Environment (SCENE)
SCENE Phase 1 received the Best New Build Award from the British Institute of Facilities Management. The award recognises facilities management integration throughout the whole process of planning, designing, building and operating a new facility.
Estates Development Manager for the project, Charles Mills, said: “We, at the University of Glasgow, are delighted that the project has received this significant award and that the considerable efforts put into the design and sustainability issues have been recognised.”
SCENE, situated on the banks of Loch Lomond, is the foremost field unit in Scotland for teaching, training and research in ecology and environmental sciences. Since it was completed in 2006 SCENE Phase 1 has received a number of awards for its design, construction and green sustainability factors.
