The Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2006 led by the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow, has won two prized awards, one for International Events and Festivals, sponsored by EventScotland, and another for Marketing, sponsored by VisitBritain, in this year’s Scottish Thistle Awards.
The highly successful Festival brought together over 40 partners throughout the city and delivered over 120 events, ranging from glass-making to major exhibitions, performance and film. The successful marketing campaign was delivered by Matthews Marketing Glasgow, in partnership with 999 Design.
Professor Pamela Robertson, Chair of the Festival Steering Group, and Senior Curator at the University’s Hunterian Art Gallery, said:
“This is wonderful news. The awards are a huge tribute to the many partners involved in delivering this exciting event and a great encouragement to all of the Mackintosh properties and collections as we plan for the next five years of activity.”
The Scottish Thistles are Scotland’s tourism Oscars. The prize-winners were announced at a glittering event in Edinburgh on Friday 26 October.
