The Scottish Network for Able Pupils (SNAP) are hosting their annual conference on Wednesday 8 June in the Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre, University of Glasgow. The theme for this year's conference is the new Additional Support for Learning (Scotland) Act 2004 and what it means for more able pupils.

Schools are planning how to respond to this Act in relation to the traditional groups associated with special educational needs, however, schools need to be thinking about pupils with outstanding abilities and how their educational needs can be met. For the first time these pupils are covered by legislation.

The conference will also launch the new CPD reflection units. These units have been developed with the busy teacher in mind and will help them consider important aspects about working with more able pupils. Reflection units are free to all staff in schools in Education Authorities who are members of the SNAP Associate Tutors scheme.

Speakers include:

Morag Gunion, HMIE
Chris Smith, SNAP
Alison Wishart, A Curriculum for Excellence
Iain Nesbit, The Govan Law Centre

There will also be a question and answer session.
