The University of Glasgow's new MPhil in Information Management and Preservation, will launch on Wednesday 3 November at the Wolfson Medical School Building.

Jointly run by the Humanities Advanced Technologies and Information Institute (HATII) at the University of Glasgow, the course is the culmination of the hard work of University staff, especially those based in HATII, Glasgow University Archive Services (GUAS), and Information Services. This exciting, forward-thinking course provides post-graduate students with training that will give them the full range of skills to work as archivists, records managers and digital curators in the 21st Century. The primary aim of this course is to provide post-graduate students with training that will equip them to work as archivists and records managers. This training will specialise in the management of digital records and electronic resources, and will provide the students with a thorough grounding in the skills necessary to work in the fields of archives and records information management. The course will develop skills in the core competencies of archives, records and information management, digitisation, management and preservation issues, archival theory, user needs and document encoding.

George MacKenzie, Keeper of the Records of Scotland, will give the key note address, and other key members of the profession and university will be represented.

The official launch will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday 3 Novemeber in the High Fraser Seminar Room of the Wolfson Medical School Building.
