New Director of Finance appointed

The University is pleased to announce that Robert Fraser, currently Director of Finance at Heriott Watt University, has been appointed as Director of Finance.
The University is pleased to announce that Robert Fraser, currently Director of Finance at Heriott Watt University, has been appointed Director of Finance. He will take up his post on 1 September 2004.
Robert Fraser has 25 years' experience of providing financial services and has been operating at the level of Finance Director since 1996. He has held the post at Heriot-Watt since 2002 and has recently incorporated IS and IT into his remit as Finance Director . He has had a successful commercial career, and since joining Heriot-Watt he has facilitated a move from recurrent deficits to a surplus whilst developing a customer-focused financial service. He is looking forward to working with the Finance Office team in driving forward the University's financial strategy and in providing a first class service to the University community.
Mr Fraser said: "I am delighted to be joining the University of Glasgow. It is an institution with a world-wide reputation in teaching and research and I am looking forward to the challenge of building on its financial strengths.'"
Commenting on the appointment Sir Muir Russell said: "Robert's experience of both the commercial and HE sector coupled with his commitment to developing customer focused services will be invaluable to the University. I'm sure we all look forward to welcoming him to Glasgow."
Mr Fraser suceeds Mr Michael Yuille, who recently left to take up the post of Director of Finance at the University of Liverpool .
