Colin McArthur Postgraduate Scholarship
Published: 28 May 2002
A lasting tribute to enable a student who lost a parent in the events of September 11 to attend the University of Glasgow
It was with great sadness that the University learnt of the untimely death of Colin Richard McArthur, one of our graduates, in the events of 11 September 2001. Colin worked as a Senior Vice President of Aon Inc in the World Trade Center.
Through the creation of the Colin McArthur Postgraduate Scholarship, the University extends its sympathy not only to Colin's family and friends but also to the American people as a whole.
Brenda McArthur, Colin's widow, has generously contributed a major gift to the scholarship set up in tribute to her husband. It is hoped that funds can be raised to endow the scholarship in perpetuity and extend the terms to include any US student.
Those currently eligible are the sons and daughters of those who died as a result of the terrorist acts at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or in the plane crash in Pennsylvania on 11 September 2001.
The scholarship will be available in all Faculties of the University and will cover all postgraduate research or taught degrees.
