Nick Nairn is the latest celebrity to pledge his support for the University of Glasgow cardiovascular research centre appeal. Nick will cook up a 'Healthy Heartening Business Lunch' for University guests on Friday 12 April to raise funds for the construction of a much-needed new centre for cardiovascular research. Rector Greg Hemphill will be on hand to assist.

The total construction cost of the British Heart Foundation Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre will be almost £11 million. The British Heart Foundation has already committed £5 million to the appeal. The Centre will be built on University Avenue near the University's new medical school.

The University recently launched a public appeal to raise funds for the new Centre, offering to name its rooms and floors after generous benefactors. Prices range from £250 for a gifted brick to £500,000 for a floor in the building.
