Would you and your friends be able to take on a Munro?
Published: 23 April 2002
This is your last chance to sign up for this University of Glasgow event, which will take place between 25 and 27 May 2002 to raise money for the BHF Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre.
The aim of the Munro Challenge is to have a representative on top of each of the 284 Munros in Scotland between these dates. With more than half of the Munros covered we have had a lot of interest, however there are still many Munros to choose from.
Would you and your friends be able to take on a Munro? Alternatively, do you know of any walkers who may be interested (they don't have to be staff or students of GU)? This event will raise money for the BHF Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre.
Some general information is included below. Anyone wishing to register should get in touch with Event Co-ordinator Kirsty Craig, preferably by e-mail: k.craig@admin.gla.ac.uk who will then forward information on which Munros have yet to be taken.
Walkers should be registered by 30 APRIL and all participants are encouraged to attend the MUNRO CHALLENGE BRIEFING on 9 May at the College Club from 5.30pm. Please let Kirsty Craig know if you plan to attend the briefing and you will be forwarded information regarding the evening.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Teams should consist of two or more members, the organisers recommend that
at least one member of the group is an experienced walker and familiar with
route navigation.
Each team can choose a date and time between 25 and 27 May 2002 to climb their Munro. Arranging transport to and from the chosen Munro is the responsibility of the individual group.
Munro Challenge will be used to raise the profile of and funds for the British Heart Foundation Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre. Groups are being encouraged to seek sponsorship, for this project.
There will be competitions for the best picture taken during Munro Challenge. The prize will be a meal for up to 8 people in La Parmiagiana on a mutually agreed date.
For University insurance purposes, all participants will be asked to complete a disclaimer, these will be distributed at the workshop or can be e-mailed. Contact k.craig@admin.gla.ac.uk if you have not received a copy.
Munro Challenge is open to the wider public not only University of Glasgow alumni, students or staff.
