The Department of Human Nutrition at the University of Glasgow is carrying out a research study on diet, physical activity and metabolic risk factors for cardiovascular disease in relatives of type 2 diabetics (this is the type of diabetes that does not require treatment with insulin).
We are currently recruiting individuals withナ
* a parent(s) with type 2 diabetes (which they developed before 65 years)
* NO family history of diabetes (for our control group)
To take part in the study you must be healthy, aged between 20-45 years and available to make two visits to the Department of Human Nutrition. One of the visits will involve giving a blood sample before and after a glucose drink (this is called an oral glucose tolerance test).
If you are interested in taking part or would simply like more information about the study, please email Dr Siobhan Higgins
siobhan.higgins@clinmed.gla.ac.uk with the following information: your name, address and telephone number, your age, whether or not you smoke, your approximate height and weight, whether you are a biological child of a type 2 diabetic and if so at what age your mother or father was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
As a token of our appreciation for your participation in this study, we will be happy to supply you with feedback on your diet, physical activity, blood lipid levels and glucose tolerance. We look forward to hearing from you.
