New lead on treatment of skin cancer

A preliminary study published as a research letter in this week's issue of THE LANCET suggests that the herpes virus could contribute to the treatment of malignant melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.

The appeal launched by University cardiologist, Professor Henry Dargie, to raise over £2m for a cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) scanner has been boosted recently by an award of £120,000 from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland.
