Pre-implementation
Dear colleagues,
We are excited to provide you with an update about MyGrades (Moodle plugin) as we look ahead in preparation for Semester 1 of the new academic year.
The project team, in collaboration with College colleagues, is working towards a successful phased implementation of a Student MyGrades Dashboard, Gradebook, and Staff MyGrades.
Here are the key points you need to know:
Pre-implementation
Phase 1 (July-Sep)
- In preparation for the Student MyGrades Dashboard launch and the start of Semester one, LISU Upskilling sessions are taking place to introduce Moodle users to the functionality of Gradebook and its implications to the new Student MyGrades Dashboard.
- Appropriate Gradebook setup is vital to ensure that the Student MyGrades Dashboard is accurate from the start of the course.
- The first of several Upskilling sessions on the new Gradebook set up, will take place on 25th July. Further live sessions will be publicised shortly. To support colleagues further, the live session will be recorded and made available.
It is critical that all staff responsible for credit bearing courses attend one of these sessions as Gradebook set up will directly impact the accuracy of grades displayed on the Student MyGrades.
Phase 2 (Semester 1 AY 24/25)
- This phase will involve a group of Early Adopters and current GCAT users, from all Colleges. Our Early Adopters will help us test and refine the Moodle plugin before a wider rollout.
Important IT Update on changes to GCAT
Following an IT Services update on 16th July, please note that after the essential Moodle upgrade to version 4.4 on 23rd July, importing, aggregating, and releasing of grades will no longer be available in GCAT. The tool will be 'read only'. In light of this we have adjusted our rollout plan to support current GCAT users and have moved forward their rollout to MyGrades as part of Phase 2, alongside Early Adopters.
We recognise there may be College challenges, and are working closely with the Deans of Learning and Teaching and Directors of Professional Services, and colleagues from Information Services.
