What influenced your decision to be a part of this project the most?

What influenced me to join this project was the great opportunity to contribute to the transformation of timetabling at the University of Glasgow. With a decade of experience as a Timetabler in Life Sciences, having navigated numerous barriers and challenges, it is exciting to witness a dedicated focus on and advancement in timetabling.

What are you most looking forward to tackling during this project?

I am looking forward to tackling the inconsistencies in timetabling practices across the university. The current diversity in methods is extensive, with each department/School/College handling it differently. Standardising this process, where possible, will hopefully result in a more efficient and effective process.

What do you think will be the biggest challenges in this project?

Timetabling is an inherently complex task, and it is easy to overlook the impact on various university areas, such as student recruitment, teaching pedagogy, enrolment etc. I believe the biggest challenge lies in enhancing the timetabling process while consistently considering the broader implications and integrating these critical factors into the projects’ decision-making.
