What influenced your decision to be a part of this project the most?

I was excited to join this project as it was clear after attempting to streamline timetabling within my own area that there was a much larger piece of work to be done to utilise the university estate better and improve the experience of timetablers. This project, by bringing together subject matter experts with a dedicated focus upon timetabling, was a great chance to engage with that needed work.

What are you most looking forward to tackling during this project?

The project is a chance to consider all aspects of how timetabling is approached without impacting upon ongoing teaching during academic year 24-25, meaning we can really consider why things are done as they are and trial new approaches without posing a risk to day-to-day activities.

What do you think will be the biggest challenges in this project?

Approaches to timetabling vary across the university and local arrangements often have specific reasoning behind them. Any proposed new ways of working will need to be adoptable across the university and account for many different types of courses and teaching.
