Public transport

Train

Glasgow has the UK's largest suburban rail network outside London, the nearest train station to the Gilmorehill campus is Partick, approximately 15 minutes walk away. More information on train times and routes can be found by visiting:

Subway

The Subway is one of the easiest ways to get around the City Centre and West End of Glasgow. Running every four minutes at peak times, it takes just 24 minutes to complete a circuit of the fifteen stations and costs from as little as £1.40 for an adult single to travel anywhere else on the system. The nearest subway stations to the Gilmorehill campus are Hillhead (5 minute walk), Kelvinhall (10 minute walk) and Kelvinbridge (10 minute walk).

Bus services going through University Avenue are First 4A and City Bus 15. The main buses along Great Western Road are the 6/6A, on Byres Road the 8, 15 and 90 and along Dumbarton Road the 2, 3, 17 and 77.

Cycling

  • There is a Nextbike station outside the Wolfson Medical School Building on University Place and one at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and one at the QEUH (Arrival Square). The University offers free membership to the Glasgow Nextbike cycle hire scheme with bikes available to rent 24/7 from any Nextbike station. Renting a bike is easy using the free app, the on-bike computer, or by phoning the Nextbike hotline.

Parking near the Gilmorehill campus can be difficult, we encourage staff, students and visitors to look for alternative travel modes. 

Park and ride is available at Bridge Street, Kelvinbridge and Shields Road subway stations during the Subway's opening hours. Regular users can buy money saving car park season tickets:
