The Residence Life team are excited to host the following events during the first semester, which are open to students living in Murano Street Student Village:

September competition: you made a difference to my arrival experience

Drop-in: ask the Reslife team

  • Study Zone, Central Services Building
  • Drop in and ask the Reslife team any questions about living at Murano or being a student at Glasgow more generally. They have lots of useful advice for you and are here to listen.

 

Hares & Hounds Taster Session

  • Join the Hares & Hounds club on a 2km jog to the Stevenson Building and from there join one of their 3km, 5km, or 8km running groups.

 

Movie night

  • Sunday 17th September, 7pm to 9pm
  • Engagement Zone, Central Services Building
  • Relax, enjoy some tasty cinema snacks, and unwind with a film shown on our epic projector screen. Spaces are limited, so please email MSSV-RL@glasgow.ac.uk to sign up.

  • Get introduced to the 2023-24 Murano Street community at this fun speed friending social.

  • An evening of fun and friendly competition with our collection of board games, video games, table tennis, and table football.

  • Meet staff from the Barclay Medical Practice, find out about registering with a GP, and ask any questions about the services they offer.

Craft Club: pumpkin carving

  • Wednesday 18th October, 7pm
  • Distraction Zone, Central Services Building
  • Get into the spirit of spooky season by carving a pumpkin for Halloween. There will be carving tools at the event, plus LED candles for you to safely light up your lantern. Spaces are limited, so please email MSSV-RL@glasgow.ac.uk to sign up.

 

Game night: table tennis tournament

  • Sunday 22nd October, 7pm to 9pm
  • Distraction Zone, Central Services Building
  • Test your table tennis skills against other residents in our first tournament of the year. The winner will represent Murano Street in the upcoming inter-halls table tennis tournament, which takes place on Thursday 7th November.

 

Reslife Adventure: Edinburgh City and Edinburgh Dungeon

  • Sunday 29th October, 9am to 4:30pm (approx)
  • Pick up point: Main Gates, University Avenue
  • Tickets: Edinburgh City & Dungeon 
  • Tickets: Edinburgh City only 
  • Booking deadline: Friday 6th October
  • Spend the day in our nation's enchanting capital city where you can explore the medieval Old Town, the Royal Mile, and other gems. You can also visit the National Museum of Scotland or spend the day checking out the wealth of shops and restaurants on offer.
    With Halloween approaching, you also have the option to add on a spooky underground journey through the city's darkest history at Edinburgh Dungeon, featuring live actors, theatrical sets, and thrilling rides.

November competition: cleanest kitchen

  • Win a £25 Amazon voucher!
  • The Site Housekeeping team will be nominating the flat with the cleanest kitchen to win the voucher, so now is the perfect time to get together and give your kitchen some TLC.
