Payment methods for externally-funded students
To complete Financial Registration, you need to provide information about how your fees will be paid. If an external organisation is paying your fees directly to the university on your behalf, you are an externally-funded student and you will need provide the necessary details about your external sponsor or scholarship.
The University must adhere to banking regulations in relation to transactions with countries subject to sanctions as listed by the United Nations, the European Union, the United and Kingdom and the United States (OFAC).
SAAS
The Students Award for Scotland (SAAS) pays tuition fees to the University for eligible Scottish-domiciled students. You may also be eligible for cost-of-living support from SAAS.
If you are a UG part time student and are receiving funding from SAAS PTFG (Part Time Fee Grant) you should follow the process as detailed in the Sponsorship section.
In order for SAAS to pay your fees, you must apply before the start of each year of your programme of study.
Tom complete financial registration, you will need your eight-digit SAAS reference number, which you can find by logging into your online SAAS account, or on correspondence from SAAS. SAAS will pay the univeristy directly on your behalf.

You can apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) to have your tuition fees paid in full, providing you meet their residence conditions. If you have not yet applied for SAAS, and would like to:
Student Loans Company (SLC)
The Students Loans Company pays tuition fees to the University for eligible England/Wales/Northern Ireland (RUK) domiciled students.
If you are an Undergraduate RUK student, you will enter your SLC student support number (SSN) when completing Financial Registration. This is the thirteen-digit number on your University or College Advice document received from Student Finance England/Wales/Northern Ireland The SLC will pay the university directly on your behalf.
Postgraduate students from Northern Ireland use your SLC student support number for a portion of their fees. You must select “partial fee” when registering. Please view Agreed Payment Plans for information on how to pay.
Postgraduate students from England and Wales must register as “self-funding”, as your loan is paid directly into your personal account. Please view Agreed Payment Plans for information on how to pay.

Sponsorship
You must apply each year to your sponsor for payment of your tuition fees.
Submit your application as soon as possible so that your sponsor can process it before you are due to register at the beginning of the new academic term.
Your sponsor must issue you with a sponsorship financial guarantee letter confirming that they are responsible for payment of your fees for each academic term.
When registering, you will need the name of the organisation that is sponsoring you and your sponsorship reference number.
You also need a copy of your Sponsorship Financial Guarantee Letter to upload during registration.
The sponsorship financial guarantee letter must meet the requirements listed below in order for your sponsorship to be approved and an invoice sent out to your sponsor. Failure to provide the relevant information could result in the sponsorship letter being rejected during registration.
The information we need from your sponsor on your sponsorship financial guarantee letter:
- Sponsorship financial guarantee letters must be on official letter headed paper
- Student name and, if known, GUID
- Amount (in £ Sterling) that the sponsor will pay
- Sponsor name
- Address to which invoice should be sent – this should preferably be an email address.
- Payment department contact details (name, email address and telephone number)
- Sponsor's student reference number or PO number (where applicable). If a sponsor requires a reference number or PO number to be quoted on an invoice to facilitate payment this must be noted on the original sponsorship financial guarantee letter.
- Programme of study for which the student is being sponsored
- Academic term for which the student is being sponsored

If you haven't applied for fee sponsorship yet, you will be unable to complete Financial Registration. If you are receiving a Postgraduate Loan from Student Finance England or Wales, you will be considered self-funded rather than sponsored. Make sure to apply for funding as early as possible.
