24/7 Counselling & Advice Line

While the University is closed over the Christmas period, we wanted to highlight that support is still available to all students. We appreciate that Christmas can be a challenging time mentally, emotionally, physically and financially for many people. Some of us may feel lonely as we are far away from family and friends and this year a great number of us are feeling the fatigue and pressure brought on by the cost-of-living crisis, the climate emergency, and other global events.

It’s okay if you’re not feeling full of joy during the festive season. We’re here to help.

The University has partnered with Health Assured to deliver a 24-hour, confidential service to support students with a wide variety of issues.  You can access the free confidential helpline on 0800 028 3766 to discuss any difficulties you are be facing. Help is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with counsellors on hand to provide guidance and help you work through any concerns.

You can access support in over 200 different languages. Just let the counsellor know that English is not your first language, and they’ll do the rest.

Student Wellbeing & Support – Grief and Bereavement Group

Our Counselling & Wellbeing Team have created a new Grief and Bereavement Group, which offers participants a safe space to talk about grief with people who have had similar experiences in a therapeutic way.

If you are interested in taking part in this group, please Register with the Counselling and Wellbeing Service and note your interest in the group on your form, and the team will come back to you with further details when the University re-opens on the 6 January.
