The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We have been reviewing and enhancing our approach to addressing gender-based violence.

‘Together Against Gender-Based Violence’ is a university-wide campaign, developed in partnership with the Students’ Representative Council, as well as the student bodies and colleagues from across the institution.

This year we're continuing our ongoing campaign against Gender-Based Violence by making you aware of the support that is available from the university and independently though the SRC.

You can find out more about our comprehensive support and resources for those in need, on our resource hub or through the information on our new Together Against Gender-Based Violence leaflets.

Additionally, the Students' Representative Council, which is independent from the University offers a range of support services.

Gender-Based Violence Peer Support Group

A support group by survivors for survivors hosted by two trained students.

The group is a space for those identifying as female who has experienced gender-based violence where they have felt dominated, exploited and oppressed due to their gender. This group is for listening to and supporting those who have experienced sexual violence or abuse. The peer-support group is not a form of group therapy and members should not understand the role of co-facilitators as therapists.

Men's Peer Support Group

Every Tuesday from 5-7pm at the Queen Margaret Union (QMU) Reflection Room we are holding our men’s peer support group, from October 8th – November 12th. This is a student-led space to talk openly and be listened to without judgement.

We understand that it can be challenging for men to talk about how we feel. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where we can talk, openly, with the prospect of improving the mental wellbeing of men on campus. Our sessions are operated on a free, drop-in basis – booking attendance in advance is not required.

If you fancy joining us, one of our facilitators will greet attendees at the entrance of the QMU and guide you towards the Reflection Room. We hope to see you soon!

Still have some questions about the group? Send us an email and we will be happy to respond.
