The theme for this year’s GSF is ‘Glasgow’s Transforming’

Glasgow Science Festival (GSF) will return this summer, from 6th to 16th June 2024, under the theme ‘Glasgow’s Transforming’.

The theme this year explores the transformative effect of research not just on society, health care, technologies, future cities, changing opinions and thinking but extends to include nature restorations- creating wetlands, reserves, and parks from brownfield sites. Being based in Glasgow the theme naturally lends itself to look at the development and regeneration of the city, campuses, new bridges and the transformation of our city from industrial past to modern times.

Glasgow Science Festival 2024 features 142 unique and family-friendly events, taking place in partner venues across the city. Once again, Glasgow Science Festival is pleased to have the support of and be working together with various organisations including Riverside Museum, Glasgow Botanic Gardens, Kelvin Hall and universities from across Scotland. As well as a packed live programme of events, the festival will again feature the ever-popular Science on the Sofa, with ideas and resources for activities that can be done at home.

The full programme of events for Glasgow Science 2024 will be announced on 30th April.

Dr Deborah McNeill, Director of Glasgow Science Festival, said: “We’re excited to be launching the programme for the Glasgow Science Festival on 30th April.   This year our theme is ‘Glasgow’s Transforming’ and we’ve had an exceptional response from our network of collaborators, academics, and our programme partners meaning our programme of events will be bigger and bolder than ever before.

“We are delighted to be hosting events in the University’s Claris Pearce Building and the Advanced Research Centre.  We also have several new event partners this year including Fossil Grove which will be hosting an open family event in partnership with the Glasgow Geological Society.

Libraries across the city will also be participating in the festival with STEAM book displays, author events for children and the Play, Talk, Read bus for toddlers”.
