Checklist for new students
A smooth transition to Team UofG
Preparing for your arrival at UofG may feel daunting so we've compiled a checklist to guide you through what you need to do and when.
We can't wait to welcome you to Team UofG!
Before arrival
- Secure term-time accommodation prior to travel
- Ensure you are familiar with our key start and enrolment dates
- Receive your Glasgow University ID (GUID) to:
- Register (Academic and Financial)
- Enrol (Courses and Classes)
- Download the UofGLife, SafeZone and other useful apps
- Complete our online Transition to Glasgow course for undergraduates and postgraduates
- Check out our international student support journey planner for details on visas and arrival at Glasgow International Airport
- If applicable, register with the Disability Service
Ensure that you have
- Your offer confirmation email from the University
- Accommodation arrival and check-in information (this will be emailed to you prior to arrival)
- Confirmation of who will be paying your tuition fees, if you are not paying them yourself
After arrival
- Register and Enrol online (if you have not already done so)
- Complete your Academic Induction (details will be emailed to you)
- Register with a local doctor and dentist
- If you need support, contact your dedicated student support officer
- Familiarise yourself with campus and the local area - Glasgow (or Dumfries, for the School of Social & Environmental Sustainability)
- Completion of Academic Writing Skills programme
- Apply for free nationwide bus travel (for those under 22)
