The University of Glasgow’s Stage-2 journey of the Technician Commitment is due to conclude in December 2023. To enter Stage-3, the University is required to complete a self-assessment of Stage-2 and propose a new 36-month Action Plan for the next 3 years starting January 2024.

The University is committed to ensuring technician voice is present in the proposed 36-month Action Plan and hence, as part of a wider consultation exercise, we have arranged a number of focus groups to allow technicians to have a say in shaping the future of Technician Commitment at the University.

Four focus groups will be held in July 2023, one for each theme of the Technician Commitment: Visibility, Recognition, Career Development and Sustainability. Each focus group will be led by a Technician Champion or a Technical Manager and there are 15 participant places on each.

Each focus group will propose actions related to the theme they are considering to be included in the University’s Stage-3 Action Plan. A copy of the previous Action Plan’s RAG Analysis will be provided. The focus group leads will be responsible for the compilation and submission of the proposed actions after the session for consideration by the Technician Commitment Steering Group.

If you would like to participate in a focus group, please follow the registration link for your preferred session below. Please note places are offered on first come first served basis and registration will cease once all places have been taken up.
