Workshop for UofG technicians on Professional Registration
Published: 7 January 2022
The Technician Commitment Steering Group has arranged a workshop for UofG technicians on Professional Registration on 2nd February 2022.
The Technician Commitment Steering Group is pleased to inform the UofG technical community that it has arranged a dedicated workshop on professional registration for all technical staff. The workshop will take place on 2nd February 2022 at 10 am to 12 pm. The joining instructions will be sent to staff via email from Internal Communications.
The workshop will be delivered by Laurence Dawkins-Hall, who is a Specialist Advisor at the NTDC as well as an Applicant support mentor for the Science council. It will consist of two halves: the first half covers the benefits of Registration; mechanics of on-line application or CAP; and responsibilities, experience and qualifications typifying each of the three registers. After a short break, there is then a sequel where how to write the competency form is covered in detail.
This workshop will be a precursor to assisting technical staff on a one-on-one basis by e-mail in order to get them to start their personal applications. So, the next step following on from this workshop could be to give technical staff interested in Professional Registration, an opportunity to reflect on the initial session and with some mentoring from the advisor to begin to populate their own competency forms.
Laurence is very experienced and has been associated with the Science Council for several years. We are confident this will be a great opportunity for our technical staff to find out more about professional registration and if they are interested, to receive professional mentoring and guidance on completing the application.
Please find a few relevant documents attached here. We would be grateful if you could read through these prior to the event.
