Decision for Tay House Project Fit Out

Since the last meeting the Steering Group has spent time exploring different options for the layout at Tay House – it’s been important for members to have a layout that is acceptable to all and that was brought in closer to the original budget.  A new office layout has now been agreed and this will be issued to the contractors for work to commence within Tay House w/c 20 October.  A copy of this layout is available to you from your Head of Service/Move Lead.

Parking Allocation

A car parking allocation workshop was held on 10 October for Move Leads and Departmental Leads.  Heads of Services will now be in touch with permit holders to ask for their final decision on whether they will be:

  1. Giving up their parking permit
  2. Retaining their parking permit at Gilmorehill
  3. Relocating their parking permit to Tay House, Elmbank Street or Q-Park Sauchiehall Street

For those picking Option 3, agreement was reached at the workshop that the preferred method of allocation of parking was on the basis of a ballot of all the available parking spaces. (To be conducted annually or following any significant change in circumstances).

Staff who have already indicated that they preferred to give up their permit or retain a Gilmorehill permit will not be invited to confirm their preference again or entered into the ballot.

Information on the car parking options will be sent to you to help inform your decision.

Update on Culture Change Programme and Work Practice developments

Work practices and protocols are now available on the Tay House website.  The first Workshop was held on 1 October for Human Resources and staff felt it to be a very positive experience.  Workshops will now be made available to all Services and Eddie O’Grady has written to Heads to check dates with staff.

Staff engagement and communication events

A Tay House Comunication Event has been been scheduled for 1 December between 1300-1500 hours in the Sir Charles Wilson building.  Further details will be ciruclated in due course – please add to your diaries for the time being.

And finally, perhaps one of the more noteworthy points from the meeting?  The Steering Group is mindful that the University is committed to a more efficient and sustainable future as part of its Carbon Management Plan.  As such, recycling will be encouraged at Tay House and colleagues might want to note that their individual desk waste bins will not be brought with them when they move to Tay House.  Localised recycling and waste points will be provided.

The Steering Group next meets on 28 October.  Do please speak to your Move Lead or Head of Service if you have any queries about the above items.
