Following the recent Tay House travel survey, consultants SMK have now put forward three proposals for car parking and transport arrangements that will accompany the relocation of University staff to Charing Cross. These are now being costed in more detail and SKM will report back to the project steering group very shortly.  The options follow analysis of the travel survey. More than three quarters of the staff being asked to relocate to the city centre completed the recent survey, making it an authoritative overview of current commuting patterns. the options under consideration are:

Scheme 1: Basic

  • Retention of parking at Gilmorehill campus
  • Use of existing public transport links between Gilmorehill and Tay House
  • Purchase of Flexi-10 tickets for intercampus travel
  • Taxi account for inter campus travel

Scheme 2: Gilmorehill

  • Retention of parking at Gilmorehill campus
  • A shuttle bus between Gilmorehill and Tay House

Scheme 3: Tay House

  • Provision of car parking in or around Tay House
  • Purchase of Flexi-10 tickets for intercampus travel
  • Taxi account for inter campus travel

Complimentary Measures have been proposed to accompany all three options:

  • Corporate membership of the Glasgow City Council Mass Automated Cycle Hire (MACH) scheme – NextBike
  • Investment in video conferencing / teleconferencing equipment
  • Incentives for walking

The options are being appraised against the University's strategic objectives and also against our wider transport objectives.
