Meet the Safeguarding Team

Hi, we’re the new UofG Safeguarding Team.

We’re here to make sure that when you make a report through the University Reporting Tool, it is addressed with the time and care that it deserves.

The Morag Ross KC Report highlighted the need for us to work across teams to put in place effective case management procedures and enable the secure transfer of information. If you, as a student, file a report you are not required to make the same report to different teams or repeat information multiple times. The Safeguarding Team will ensure you receive the right support and, with your consent, can share information on your behalf.

As a result of the Ross Report action plan, a priority for us will be the review of the university’s Safeguarding Policy. While the existing policy covers the necessary information from a regulatory perspective, feedback has suggested that greater emphasis on reporting routes and support mechanisms is required.

We’re part of the Wellbeing & Inclusion Team, so we are working closely with Counselling and Wellbeing, to ensure ease of access to support services.

Our team brings significant experience and expertise, gained via our work within the criminal justice and social work sectors. We are here to ensure you receive the right support and to ensure a timely response to every report.

We will also support the forthcoming GBV campaign, which will focus on challenging attitudes and promoting positive behaviours, as well as ensuring good awareness amongst the university community of how to recognise and report concerns.

We will be doing some pop-up stands during the 16 Days so do come and have a chat with us. If you have any questions, you can email us at safeguardingteam@glasgow.ac.uk.

Best wishes,

Safeguarding Manager – Kelly Archer
Safeguarding Officer – Tracy McClafferty
