Biography
In my role in the Research Culture & Researcher Development team, I support researchers through a number of projects based in support for writing and creative practice.
I recently held a festival of academic writing, across 15th - 26th April, 2024. While this festival has now concluded, you can learn more about what this involved by accessing this resource full of Write of Spring materials: Trust Your Troupe: a community writing resource. You can also take a look at the Programme.
I currently lead a Programme of Writing Retreats for UofG writers. If you'd like to hear more about this supportive community, and join us to celebrate the triumphs of writing, and find solidarity through the struggles, find us here: Write-A-Long Writing Retreat Programme 2024.
I also lead a series of walks which focus on creative approaches to sharing outdoor space with a welcoming group of colleagues, for all PGRs and staff. We walk on the 1st Wednesday of each month, to a different creative prompts, and sometimes with guest walk leaders. Find out more here: Welcome Living Hearts.
Research interests
My interests as a researcher developer build on passions I developed during my PhD research in critical thinking skills, creative methodologies, and writing.
In my practice-based research project, I combined these interests with Medieval History, History of Art, Feminist Theory, Feminist Translation Practice, and Creative Writing to work on a project on Imitatio as method which recovered a proto-feminist reading of 14th c. Tuscan mystic St Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) for contemporary feminist practice.
In my present role, I build on those same passions while helping researchers to realise their full potential as writers and in their research, through using creative approaches to methodologies and creative writing based practice to support strong writing and critical thinking skill development.
