First steps in PGR Development
While the priority of the skills to develop is different for every researcher these are our suggested first steps as a PGR
1. Attend a PGR Induction Week
PGR Induction Weeks runs in October and January each year. At this event you'll find out some of the key information to know as a PGR, meet some of the teams that can support you and have a chance to meet other new PGRs
2. Complete your Mandatory Training
There are online mandatory training courses that all PGRs must complete when they start. These cover some of the essential knowledge required by all PGRs
3. Check your Graduate School's requirements
Each Graduate School has its own requirements for PGR training and development, make sure you know what these are.
4. Think about your own training needs
The RDF describes the knowledge, behaviour and attributes of successful researchers. Review this and think about which areas you should prioritise. This will be individual for every PGR.
5. Know where to find training opportunities
There are lots different training opportunities and development activities you can engage with. Make sure you know where to find opportunities.
6. Get to know Inkpath
Inkpath is the platform you use to book many of the training courses available to you. You can also use it to record all your researcher development activities and reflect on your development.
