Make it essential
How you approach your project in the early stages will directly impact on the efficacy and impact of the change. Asking the right questions and having real clarity on why, how, who and what, significantly increases the likelihood of success.
Start with Why
It is critical to create a compelling case for change. Take a look at Simon Sinek's work in this space. Tapping into the power of storytelling, being clear about the purpose, and communicating ideas effectively is done by thinking and communicating from the inside of the circle out.
Contract How
Contracting is one of the most, if not the most, important phases in any change process. The goal is to make a good decision about how to carry out the process. It forms that foundation for a successful project, setting mutual expectations and determining the parameters. The quality of this process is a strong indicator of how the project will go.

Know Who
Stakeholders are any individuals or group that may be impacted by the change and/or have an interest in the change or its outcomes. Especially in our context, it is critical that we understand ‘who’ are stakeholders are and how best to enable participation and collaboration through the process.
