Participating in a network or a community of practice (CoP) can be a great way to connect with colleagues doing similar roles or who share similar interests and/or access informal learning and development.

Communication Community of Practice
If you are a Communication Professional working at UofG - join us! You can be part of creating an open and positive space for all communication professionals to learn, collaborate and innovate at the University of Glasgow. We're a warm, friendly bunch who love to meet new people and hear new ideas! Drop us a note and we'll add you to our Teams channel.
Course Coordinator Network
The Course Coordinator Network brings together undergraduate, postgraduate, and ODL Course Coordinators from across UofG to promote collaboration, identify common issues, and share best practice. Level-specific meetings happen several times a year and there is a Teams site to facilitate discussion. CCN is open to anyone who coordinates a course or helps in the design or delivery of teaching in any capacity. You can join CCN via Teams.
Data & Analytics Community of Practice
The Data & Analytics Community of Practice aims to connect university analytics and data specialists to share, learn and inspire. It is open to any member of staff who has an interest in sharing best practice and contributing to enhancements in the way we manage, analyse and report on organisational data.
Decolonising the Curriculum Community of Practice
The Decolonising the Curriculum Community of Practice is a group of colleagues who share an interest in identifying colonial injustice in institutional structures and the history of subject disciplines. The DtC Community seeks to foreground existing and bring about new initiatives to change learning content, teaching and assessment practices that move away from a Eurocentric lens and embed alternative and hitherto undervalued ways of knowing, teaching and assessing. By doing so we hope to make our curricula more accessible, relevant and inclusive and enable our students to become ethically and socially aware graduates. We work in partnership with students and each other to adopt an anti-racist lens in our teaching and share good practice and resources. The Community of Practice is open to anyone with an interest in Decolonising the Curriculum.
Field course Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Work is underway to develop a community on field course EDI (see the Cultivate project to understand more about field course EDI). If you would be interested in joining this community once established, please email Dr Lydia Bach.
Global Majority Network
This group is for all University of Glasgow staff who identify as Black, Asian or as a Minority Ethnic.
The UofG Global Majority Network came together in early 2022, with the aim to provide a welcoming environment where members can:
- Meet regularly to network and organise social events
- Support one another within the University by providing a space for discussing issues which affect them.
- Inform University management with respect to issues which affect them.
- Distribute information about relevant events within and outwith the University.

IT Community
IT Community at UofG composed mainly of IT and web professionals but includes any staff with an interest in IT at UofG. Has a IT Community mailing list and holds events on various topics of interest throughout the year.
Jewish Staff Network
The network formed to liaise with the management, student bodies, and other staff networks in Glasgow and beyond for promoting inclusive and open inter- and intra-communal solidarity within our institutions.
The aims of the network are as follows:
- To provide a supportive space for Jewish staff members to meet together to share experiences, issues, and concerns, and to promote thoughtful understanding of diverse Jewish beliefs and voices at the University of Glasgow and beyond.
- To provide a consultative body to the University of Glasgow, through which views of Jewish staff can be heard with regard to questions affecting Jewish communities (staff and students) at the University.
- To nurture thoughtful approaches to addressing antisemitism and interconnected anti-racist struggles, while fostering intercultural connections, within and beyond Jewish communities.
- To support networking that will enrich events relevant to Jewish histories, cultures, beliefs and scholarship.

Leadership & Management (L&M) Community
The Leadership & Management (L&M) Community aims to provide a supportive environment in which leadership and management practice can emerge and flourish. This Community is open to all colleagues who have an interest in leadership and management.
Glasgow Research Standardisation Network
The Glasgow Research Standardisation Network (GRSN) brings together researchers and professionals from different areas to share experience and support each other about the translation of research outcomes to standards.
We hold various in-person events and have a teams page.
The goal of GRSN is to increase awareness of standardisation as a possible path to be followed by researchers in the University, with the long-term aim of enhancing the University’s standards-related impact. In short, to create a UoG-wide standardization community of practice.

LGBTQ+ Network
LGBTQ+ Network – The University of Glasgow Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender + Network was one of the first in Higher Education in Scotland. The network welcomes all academic and non-academic staff, PhD students. The network aims to provide a welcoming environment in which LGBT staff can:
- meet regularly for social events;
- discuss LGBT issues in a safe space;
- receive information about relevant LGBT events within and outwith the University.
- inform University policy with respect to LGBT equality and diversity; representatives attend the LGBT+ Equality Group.
MPA Peer Network
The MPA Peer Network is an independent network aiming to promote wellbeing at work among Management, Professional and Administrative (MPA) colleagues. The Network runs events and initiatives throughout the year open to all MPA staff.
Neurodiversity Network
Our mission is to provide awareness, representation, and promote inclusion of neurodiversity in higher education. The Network is a collective of interdisciplinary staff and students with lived experience of neurodiversity who endeavour to share resources and information about neurodiversity to the University community and beyond. All those who identify as neurodivergent or seek to better understand and support neurodiversity are welcome to join our Teams site (link listed in the Linktree).
PA Network
The PA Network routinely meet up to share best practice etc and discuss matters relating directly to our roles. This Network mostly consists of the PAs to Heads of Services and Heads of Schools.
PGR Supervisors Network
The Community of Practice acts as a hub for all PGR supervisors at UofG. It facilitates sharing and discussion, allows organisation of opportunities and resources, and enables responsive support from a community of peers with whom you can engage in supportive conversations.
Project Management Community
Public Engagement Coordinators Group (PECG)
The PECG is comprised of largely professional services staff from across the University who have external engagement or public outreach as part of their job role. The PECG meet every month to share ideas and learning, support public engagement strategy development and identify ways of working together. The group also welcome visits from colleagues across the university, who may have shared objectives or interests.
Research Professional Staff Network
The Research Professional Staff Network is a collaborative community of UofG Research Professionals, wherever they work in UofG.
The network is for any member of staff whose role involves providing a professional service, expert guidance, system or support for research or researchers, at any point in the research journey. We are open and inclusive, encouraging memberships across the entire research ecology. This includes those at whole-university, College, School, and project level.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Network
The University of Glasgow Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Network (UofGSoTL) is a peer support network for all colleagues who are involved or are interested in SoTL. We run weekly peer supported writing sessions, and there are opportunities for publishing scholarship, contributing to resources for instance the popular SoTL Advent Calendar. You can join in our private MS Teams Group, explore (and contribute to) resources on the website or connect with colleagues internationally on Twitter. This is a very active and supportive community, join us to learn how to use SoTL and scholarship for your career development, improve your teaching, and find collaborators.
School of Education Postgraduate Researcher (PGR) Community
The School of Education Postgraduate Researcher (PGR) Community aims to bring staff and PGRs together. Staple activities included the ‘Walk & Talk’ in Kelvingrove Park, quiz evenings, writing sessions and informal chats. Invitations and relevant information are circulated via, the teams pages, the PhD Moodle community and Twitter. Colleagues from the School of Education are invited to participate and we have also welcomed PGR students from other Schools to some of our activities.
Social Digital Change Group
The Social Digital Change Group leads the research in the relationship between digital technology and social, economic, political and cultural change. It is linked with the Digital Society and Economy research theme within the College of Social Science and draws membership from across the University leading to an international interdisciplinary research group.
We also have a vibrant PGR group who have their monthly meetings every last Thursday of the month. This group is student-led and welcome PGR students from across the University who have an interest and/or experience of research broadly in any aspects related to social and digital change. The PGR group has a Microsoft Teams page,which any student may request to join and access.
Student Support Peer Network

Our aim is to provide a social and professional network to facilitate communication and collaboration between UofG colleagues of all grades and job families across the University and across each department across the fast moving field that is student support which encompasses health and wellbeing, financial support, careers and employability and much more.

The Sustainability in Learning & Teaching (SLT) Community aims to create a hub of multidisciplinary connections that leads to L&T collaborations and activity around sustainability. It is open to any colleague who has an interest in sustainability in relation to learning & teaching.

UX Community
A community to promote and discuss user experience (UX) centred ideas, articles, and examples. We do UX meetups -casual in-person gatherings to meet, discuss ideas and ongoing research, share good and bad UX, share tools and frameworks.
