Learning and Teaching Leaders Programme
The Learning & Teaching Leaders Programme (LTLP) is a leadership and development opportunity aimed at individuals who are responsible for providing learning and teaching leadership for a degree programme or similar activity (undergraduate or PGT) and therefore for enhancement, innovation and professional practice in that area. It aims to increase capability, confidence and connectedness for participants and provides them with an opportunity to network with colleagues from across the institution and engage with senior leaders who contribute to the programme.
The programme is targeted at academic staff who have recently (within the last 18 months) taken on responsibility for a degree programme or large component of a programme and who are expected to develop the programme / course(s), encourage student engagement and develop approaches to teaching and assessment on the programme / course(s). Some colleagues may be early career academics and so also involved in CPD associated with early career stages. Please note that the programme is not suitable for colleagues who have not yet completed the PGCap.
The programme has the following development objectives:
- ensuring learning and teaching leaders have an insight-led appreciation of student engagement and the student experience, the macro and micro issues that matter to students, and who can adapt and respond to the needs of a multi-cultural and multi-generational student population, both undergraduate and postgraduate
- developing learning and teaching leaders who embrace the principles of and approach to decolonising the curriculum, within a broader commitment to inclusivity
- growing understanding of discovery and innovation, ensuring their ability to lead current and future best practice in learning and teaching, in particular, influencing peers and senior colleagues
- developing an appreciation of the role of emotional intelligence alongside the principles of academic integrity and respect in building our community
- equipping learning and teaching leaders to understand how to lead significant change projects and programmes and building skills in collaboration with colleagues and with the student body
- facilitating a harmonious relationship between members of staff across all job families who contribute to an engaging, student-centred education
Recruitment for this programme will typically commence over the summer months. Colleagues who are interested in participating in this Programme should have an initial discussion with their line manager and indicate their interest in coordination with their local People and OD (Human Resources) teams.
