Welcome to the Development Programme
The Programme workshops are aligned to the promotion criteria and are grouped into three central pillars including (1) Research, Knowledge Exchange and Impact (2) Learning, Teaching and Scholarship (3) Management, Leadership and Personal Effectiveness with some elements being delivered by partners within:
- The Colleges
- Research & Innovation Services (Research, Knowledge Exchange and Impact)
- ADD (Academic and Digital Development)
- Organisational Development (Leadership, Management and Personal Effectiveness)
Workshops can be booked locally and are typically made available to book via CoreHR using your own unique GUID; booking details are located within the Learning and Development tab/section.
There may be additional development opportunities offered throughout the year that participants can pursue e.g. conferences, guest speaker events, networking, etc.
The Development Programme includes three mandatory elements:
- Completion of PgCAP and achieved recognition at Descriptor 2, Fellow, of the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education. Such recognition is normally gained through the University’s Recognising Excellence in Teaching (RET) programme
- Research supervision training (Required for all UofG staff who are supervising research students - there is a mandatory e-learning module The Fundamentals of Postgraduate Supervision and Graduate Schools may require an additional f2f session on completion of this. All ECDP participants should undertake this training unless they have already undertaken training via the Graduate School in the last 4 years)
- Research integrity training (required for all ECDP participants, including LTS track)
For full ECDP members successful completion of the programme requires:
- Completion of PgCAP and achieved recognition at Descriptor 2, Fellow, of the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education. Such recognition is normally gained through the University’s Recognising Excellence in Teaching (RET) programme;
- Completion of the relevant optional elements outlined within each theme of the Development Framework
- Successful completion of annual objectives
- A viable application to Grade 9, supported by the Head of School/Director of Research Institute, granted via the established academic promotion procedures within the applicable timescale
For partial members successful completion will be the attainment of a longer term academic role. Where such a role is not at the Grade 9 level the individual would transfer to full ECDP membership at this time, and work towards a promotion application within the same overall timescales. For the avoidance of doubt, the ECDP scheme itself cannot determine whether an ongoing academic role can be offered, and any such decision would be taken in accordance with normal staff recruitment and contract extension protocols.
You can create your own, tailored programme using the Personal Development Plan and exploring the full range of opportunities and workshops provided across the University.
