Paying Extra Contributions
Members of the University of Glasgow Pension Scheme (UGPS) are able to pay additional voluntary contributions (AVC's) through an arrangement with Prudential.
Making additional contributions to Prudential, when paid through your salary, provides a tax saving on your contribution. A contribution of £100 to Prudential will result in, for a 20% tax payer, a reduction in net pay of £80.
Subject to certain limits, you may be able to take the whole of your Prudential fund as tax free cash at retirement.
