Startup Grind is a community designed to educate, inspire and connect entrepreneurs
Startup Grind, a community designed to educate, inspire and connect entrepreneurs is inviting students and University staff, alumni and business people to join its new Glasgow chapter.
The inaugural event in September saw Adam Smith Business School alumna Corien Staels of wheelAIR/Staels Design, speak to more than 70 attendees about her entrepreneurial journey and the lessons she has learned.
One of the key values of Startup Grind is members’ commitment to help each other and make introductions to people in their network. This can lead to members finding mentors, co-founders, funders or employees.
Michaela Hruskova, PhD Researcher at the Adam Smith Business School, teamed up with the Tech Start Programme from the School of Computing Science, Student Enterprise, and the Glasgow University Entrepreneurship Society to set up the Glasgow chapter.
Michaela said: “Startup Grind University of Glasgow features emerging and successful local entrepreneurs who share the lessons they learned to build their business. To continue strengthening the entrepreneurial community at the University I’m eager to expand Startup Grind and attract staff from across the School and the university to events where they will learn more about local business ventures, network with like-minded people, and perhaps use their expertise and experience to advise keen early-stage entrepreneurs.”
When they join the Glasgow Startup Grind community, members become part of the global community, which consists of 450 chapters across 120 cities, expanding the networking opportunities.
The next meet-ups take place at 5.30pm on Tuesday 23 October and Tuesday 20 November.
