LEADS (Learning Enhancement and Academic Development Service) has announced the launch of its 2018-19 CPD series aimed at any staff with a role in teaching or supporting learning. These are open to University of Glasgow staff (including Graduate Teaching Assistants / Demonstrators).

The CPD series handbook has details about each session. Information, which includes booking instructions, is also available on LEADS' CPD website.
Designed to help you develop teaching practice, sessions are grouped into five strands:

  • Active Learning
  • Scholarship of Teaching & Learning
  • Assessment & Feedback
  • Developing Your Students
  • RET (Recognising Excellence in Teaching) Fellowship Framework

Each strand is aligned to academic promotion criteria, and each individual session is aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) in order to help you evidence your continuing development, e.g. in applications for recognition, such as RET Fellowship. The strand themes have been chosen to reflect institutional priorities, as well as requests and suggestions from University staff, writes Dr Scott Ramsay, Good Practice Adviser.

The sessions are evenly spread throughout semesters 1 and 2, and mostly take place around the middle of the day (so you're welcome to bring along your lunch!)

In addition to staff from within LEADS, some sessions will be led by teaching staff within the Colleges who have particular experience in certain areas of learning, teaching and assessment.

We also have a range of invited external speakers who will bring specific expertise, and who will be able to share perspectives from elsewhere in the sector on current issues in learning and teaching in higher education.

Please note that sessions are only open to staff at the University of Glasgow (though staff at validated institutions are welcome to attend the invited external speakers' sessions - full details are on each event's individual Event listing on the webpage above).
