The University’s international ambitions are being re-energised through the appointment of a suite of strategic internationalisation roles.

Over the last few months, the University has been reconfiguring the role and remit of the International Dean posts to ensure that the right resources are in place to deliver on our internationalisation objectives as well as to facilitate more effective relationships with the Colleges.

The new posts are titled ‘Dean of Global Engagement’ and will carry regional strategy responsibility.

Jim Conroy, Vice-Principal for Internationalisation explains: “We believe the reconfiguration of these Dean roles represent an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the University’s international activity, focusing on global engagement, partnership development, attracting outstanding students, and business and industrial links. Our hopes are that by working with industry around the world, as well as with other university partners, we can deliver on objectives such as expanding our range of international internships.”

The Deans will undertake the role on a 0.5 FTE basis and will receive appropriate budgetary support. Successful candidates will be expected to retain an active role in their School. Each Dean will carry responsibility for one of five new territorial designations:

  • The Americas (filled)
  • Middle East and Africa (vacant)
  • China and East Asia (vacant)
  • South and South East Asia (vacant)
  • Europe (vacant)

The Dean for Global Engagement roles are being advertised on the University’s internal vacancies system. If you wish to apply, do so online by the closing date of Sunday 4 March.
