The Director of Human Resources has been in discussion with UCUG representatives regarding the ongoing industrial dispute. UCUG representatives have agreed to ask their members who are participating in industrial action to do everything they can to minimise the impact on students, and to ensure that students are well prepared for examinations. On this basis, we cannot envisage a situation in which staff members will have pay docked for refusal to reschedule classes, outside the current strike action. The University continues to engage in constructive discussions with UCUG, and we are doing all that we can to influence talks at a national level in order to secure a fair and sustainable settlement on pensions.

Further, the University has exceptionally agreed to deduct pay from those participating in strike action over a three month pay period in the interests of maintaining our effective employee relations culture here at Glasgow.
