Professor Anne Anderson discusses her role as Gender Equality Champion and the work currently being delivered to enhance gender equality across the University. VIDEO
The University of Glasgow is committed to promoting equality in all its activities and aims to provide a work, learning, research and teaching environment free from discrimination and unfair treatment, writes Mhairi Taylor, Equality & Diversity Manager.
To help achieve these objectives we have a team of Equality Champions, led by Professor Anton Muscatelli as our overall Equality Champion, all drawn from our Senior Management Team. They each take responsibility for overseeing the support and provision for a particular protected characteristic, or range of characteristics.
This is our third feature in a series taking a more detailed look at one of the protected characteristics, our supporting equality activities and the role our Equality Champion plays in helping progress our equality objectives, and this time we focus on gender equality and our Gender Equality Champion, Professor Anne Anderson.
Professor Anderson’s remit as Champion covers assisting with the progression of our gender equality objectives, as outlined in our equality outcomes within our Public Sector Equality Duty, and advocating on gender equality issues within the University, ranging from our SFC Gender Action Plan, to Athena SWAN and gender pay.
You can watch a brief video of Professor Anderson discussing her role and outlining some of the current activities being delivered in the gender equality space, alongside an overview of the SRC’s activity to prevent gender based violence from Vice-President Lauren McDougall.
If you would like to find out more about the work of any of our Equality Champions, or any of our equality and diversity activities, please visit the Equality and Diversity Unit’s webpages or contact us on equality@glasgow.ac.uk.
