Marli de Jongh (4th year Earth Science undergraduate) has made it through to the UK final of the IOM3 Young Person's Lecture competition (to be held on the 26 April at the Armourers’ Hall, London). She achieved this by winning the Scottish heat, held at the University of St Andrews, with a talk entitled "Shocked suevites from the Ries crater: Insights into the dynamics of hypervelocity impacts".

Dr Martin Hurst, GES, has received the Presidents Award of the Geological Society of London. It will be awarded on 7 June in London.
