Robert Young, of the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, was featured on the much-lauded BBC Child of Our Time programme last week.

Child of Our Time is a documentary commissioned by the BBC, co-produced with the Open University and presented by Robert Winston. It is billed as a 20-year project following the lives of 25 children, born at the beginning of the 21st century, as they grow from infancy, through childhood, and on to becoming young adults.

Robert is a Senior Researcher at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit working in the Social Relationships and Health Improvement programme. His work focuses on the multiple ways different aspects of social relationships influence health. His research explores the influence of parenting, peer groups, peer victimisation, peer identity and social networks on adolescent mental health, particularly social influences on self-harm.

You can find last week's Child of Our Time programme on the BBC iPlayer.
