A new framework for design services

Published: 14 March 2022

The University has appointed four design agencies who are authorised to provide design services.

The new framework for design services kicks off in March, with four approved design agencies who can support your design requirements. Two agencies will be known to many of you as they were on the previous framework (Cactus and d8) and we are pleased to welcome two new agencies (The Gate Edinburgh and Creative Triangle).

As before, work is divided into two categories

  • Lot 1: simple straightforward graphic design for digital and print output (including digital banner ads, animated gifs, flyers, brochures, infographics) – Creative Triangle and Cactus.
  • Lot 2: complex brand and design services across a range of media, requiring consultative input, creative concept and brand development, additional services such as copywriting, microsite development, art direction and photography – The Gate Edinburgh and d8.

Most University projects tend to come within the remit of lot 1.

There’s plenty of information on our web pages on our Brand Toolkit on how to select your design agency, brief them and work with them to get the outcome you desire, as well as summary information on each of the agencies and their contact details. There’s also a useful design brief template that we would recommend you use as a basis for briefing projects and advice about how to buy print, if applicable.

The contract will run for 2 years in the first instance, with the option to renew over a further 1 or 2 years.

Any design projects already in progress with agencies under the former framework can run to completion, but any new projects should be in accordance with the new framework.
