Explorathon is a Scotland-wide festival that celebrates the work happening in our universities through a lively programme of free public events.

Funded by the European Commission, the festival is part of 'European Researchers' Night', which will take place on Friday 24 September 2021.

We're looking for events, activities and resources for Explorathon 2021 from ALL disciplines. Most activity should fall within the week 20-25 September 2021, although 'teaser' events are also welcome. Given continued social distancing, we anticipate that events will be delivered largely online.

From virtual workshops and tours to Q&As, films and dance parties, this is a chance to get creative! By taking events online, this is also an opportunity to involve partners and collaborators from across Europe and the world. We’d love to hear your ideas. Events from all disciplines, from the arts to science are encouraged. Last year’s programme featured everything from video games to maths-inspired knitting.

Stuck for what to do but still want to be involved? You can also contribute to our Scotland-wide research-themed quiz, Pecha Kucha night and Twitter take-over. We'll be hosting information sessions in June to help support your participation.

Explorathon is funded by the European Commission under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions programme.

If you are interested in getting involved with this year’s festival, either as a volunteer or event contributor, please register interest online by 30 June.
