Scotland 5G Centre: Connecting Scotland
17 September 2020
9.30am – 11 am
Virtual Event
Faster, more reliable, wireless 5G networks are already playing their part in the economic and social recovery from the devastation of Covid-19, emphasising a growing reliance on this emerging technology.
As announced in their 5G Strategy, the Scottish Government's aspiration is for Scotland to be at the forefront of this technological and social revolution, establishing a global lead as a 5G digital nation.
Investment in the establishment of the Scotland 5G Centre as a national resource will accelerate the deployment and adoption of 5G by bringing together entrepreneurs, small businesses, research organisations, corporates and government bodies to foster innovation and collaboration across the business, technology, and telecommunications industries and beyond. The University of Glasgow is a founding partner in the Centre.
Join us for this live-streamed event and hear about how the Centre plans to support innovation and create value for Scotland’s businesses and citizens, delivering applications and services that will transform how we choose to work and live.
On 17 September you will hear from:
- Paul Wheelhouse, the Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands, on the next stage in the delivery of the Scottish Government’s 5G Strategy
- Paul Coffey, the CEO of Scotland 5G Centre, about how this new programme will be delivered by the Scotland 5G Centre and how Scottish SMEs will play a key role.
