Appointment of Gregor Caldow announced
Following a rigorous recruitment and selection process Gregor Caldow has been appointed as the University’s new Executive Director of Finance. Gregor, who has been acting Executive Director since Robert Fraser left in July, takes up his position with immediate effect.
Gregor joined the University in March 2016 having previously worked for nine years with Shell, latterly as Head of Finance for Shell’s Risk and Insurance business. Prior to this he spent eight years with Motorola and Freescale Semiconductors, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and held a number of roles across finance including Factory Controller, European Internal Audit Manager and European Shared Services Manager.
The Principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli said: "I am delighted that Gregor has been appointed. Since joining the University first as Group Financial Controller and then as acting Executive Director of Finance he has shown great skill in what have been increasingly challenging times. I look forward to working closely with him."
Dr David Duncan, Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary, said: "Gregor’s appointment comes during a crucial period for the University as we deal with the ongoing issues caused by Covid, but also as we focus on ensuring that Glasgow continues to be a world-leading, world-changing institution."
